In Loving Memory of
Christopher William Kelly,
age 94, of El Segundo, CA passed away on November 3, 2017. He was born in Dublin Ireland. Christy, as he was fondly known by his family and friends, meet and married the love of his life, Joan, in Dublin and they were happily married for 64 years. In 1957, leaving his job as a cooper at the Guinness St. James Gate Brewery in Dublin, Christy and Joan, along with their young son Hugh, immigrated to the United States. In 1960, Christy settled his family in El Segundo and started a prosperous career at Trans World Airlines. Christy was an active member of the Los Angeles Irish community and sat on both the Irish Fair Board and the Rose of Tralee Board. In 1977, Christy helped Joan start the Kelly School of Traditional Irish Dance,
which was one of the first Irish Dance Schools in Los Angeles and is still in operation today. The Kelly School has taught over 1,000 children the art of Irish dance
.
Christy is survived by his wife Joan, son Hugh, daughters Imelda, Claire and Carol and eight wonderful grandchildren: Chris, Brian, John, Mikyla, Jessica, Emily, Isabelle and Samantha,
and preceded in death by his granddaughter Cara
. His family was the joy and light of his life. Christy could always be found around town at one of his grandchildrens’ events, a local garage sale or walking his beloved dog Bandit.

A Rosary will be held on
Tuesday, November 21st at 7 pm
, and the funeral mass will be held on
Wednesday, November 22nd at 10 am
at American Martyrs Church –
. Burial will immediately follow the mass at Holy Cross Cemetery –
.
There will be a reception at 513 Main Street, El Segundo, following the burial at
1pm
All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
